I believe that it is time that men are called to task on their manhood. I am not speaking of the foolish secular standards by which most men measure themselves. I am speaking of the things that solidify legacies that last; things like commitment to filial responsibility, leadership within the community, dedication to character and integrity to start. When I say that men must be called to task I am not speaking of pointing a judgmental finger, but leading by example, providing encouragement and support, developing systems that provide direction for those that are unsure. Who out there is willing to join in and through organization and activation make a difference?

A Corrupt System Addressed!
Dear Robert,
Personally, I can definitely understand your frustration. I have been involved in that system, which is a joke. I understand better than anyone that it is a system on which pockets are lined and political careers are built; however, to assert that this is the case in every situation would be inaccurate and irresponsible. I have definitely done my homework on this matter and I can tell you that this corrupt system that you despise so much was made possible and necessary because of fathers that refuse to honor their filial responsibility. If there was never a need for enforcement, the enforcement agency would have never been present to become corrupted.
As far as mothers that are using this system as an assault mechanism against their former mates, I am aware of this as well. I have personally experienced it. Again, I must assert that though this is factual it cannot be considered the norm. I have interviewed and personally know more mothers that are literally begging the fathers of their children to take part in the children’s lives to no avail than I do of those that are manipulating and restricting visits. They definitely exist and the issue must be addressed. In fact, I am willing to partner with those who want to address that issue as well, but it must be done with accuracy and regard for the balance of truth. What I mean by this is your movement against this corrupt system loses its validity when you give total credence to your stance without truthfully and genuinely acknowledging that there are men out there literally dodging their responsibility. I’m not speaking about the guy that has the weight of an exorbitant child support order on his back. I’m not talking about the young man paying child support, but still not allowed to see his son. I’m not talking about the men who have had their God ordained authority undermined by a system devised by the enemy to usurp that very authority. No, those issues need to be addressed. I speaking of the man who this system can’t even locate to insert its corrupt claws into him. I’m speaking of the men who have children by women who refuse to bring this corrupt system into the issue, but yet they still refuse to honor their filial responsibility.
Yes, the rights of fathers in this country is a joke, but to assert that we as men are collectively carrying the load we were meant to carry is a travesty. Robert, as long as you continue to approach this issue from an imbalanced and biased perspective, the cause will continue to suffer. Truth is your greatest weapon. Stand on the truth. State your case and be firm, but never devaluate the plight of others to strengthen yours.

P.S. To assert that putting effort into the children and programs for betterment will not make a difference is to discount the awesome power of the Holy Spirit to transform and restore. God can make a difference. He is speaking to this generation now and saying that he will bring them up out of their graves. In fact it is happening as we speak.

As a believer in Christ i do appreciate your sharing the Gospel of Grace with those who you are trying to help. I would like also to say to you that in dealing with "fatherlessness" it needs to be understood that in the united states family courts are purposely keeping fathers from their children. The family court system makes millions of dollars for the states by routinely denying due process to fathers all over this country. States make millions of federal dollars upon receiving a certain amount of child support and the judges get into that graft along with the attorney's, guardian ad-litems, counsellors, mediators, etc. etc.
The point i want to address here, specifically, is that "fatherlessness" is multifaceted. It's not just inner city youth who are fatherless because of a rotating welfare dependency in that community. There is a whole other realm of "fatherlessness" due to "family court" abuse of fathers - it's just that simple. Get yourself a copy of "Taken Into Custody" by Dr. Stephen Baskerville and begin reading what the real reason for "fatherlessness" truly is. Did you know for example that 85 to 90 percent of "single" mothers are brought on by those mothers filing for divorce. That's right, "divorce" is "unilateral" where children are present 85 to 95 percent of the time because mom initates divorce.
The divorce industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that is capitalizing on divorce where kids are concerned. So, all the "mentoring" aside, unless and until you get at the heart of the issue you are going to see the complete destruction of the country as you currently are, if we are speaking pathologically. I read article after article after article, like yours, where all these good intentions are out there but you are, like the others, "ever learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth" on this issue - see 2 Tim 3:7.
The "heart" of the issue isn't "mentors". The heart of the issue is their is an all out attack on the "AUTHORITY" of fathers all over this country and it's just that simple. Fathers do NOT HAVE THEIR GOD GIVEN RIGHTS TO THEIR PROGENY IN THE UNITED STATES. You need to understand that and stop bandaiding the issue.
Tell some youth without fathers about Christ Jesus; yes. Show them what you believe are good values and ways of dealing with others etc. etc..; yes. Will you actually solve or do anything to stem fatherlessness....a resounding NO.
The problem of fatherlessness is the corrupt, marxist , "family court system" in the united states.

“The Lord answered him, "I will be with you. It will seem as if the Midianites you are fighting are only one man" (Judges 6:16, NCV).
16 The Lord said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man (Judges 6:16 NLT).”
This powerful promise from God comes in midst of a dialogue with Gideon. The Angel of the Lord, a theophany (an appearance of Yahweh in the physical sense in the Old Testament), appears to Gideon as he is threshing wheat in the wine press, which in itself is a sign of fear. Yet the Lord addresses Gideon as a mighty man of valor. Now at first glance, the superficial reader and casual bible student might say where in the cowardice behavior of Gideon does God see anything mighty. The answer is that God sees us through the eye of unactualized potential. He is calling Gideon not as he is, but by what he would become in the power of God.
This is much in the same way that God called Abram a father of many nations before he ever experienced the joy of being a father. God does not see the believer in the weakness of his natural existence, but in the fullness of his design. God calls things that are not as though they were (Romans 4:17). God is saying to Gideon, I know what it seems like right now, but my design for you is so much greater than the mediocrity you now walk in. Gideon I designed you for greatness.
Out of fear of the Midianites, Gideon was threshing wheat in the inconspicuous coverings of the wine press. Under normal circumstances wheat was threshed out in the open so that the wind could separate the lighter chaff from the heavier grain. The chaff would blow away, but the wheat would fall to the ground and be gathered. The Midianites would allow the Israelites to sow their crops and then raid them and take it at harvest time. What is noteworthy here is that the Midianites are actually operating as the hand of God in punishing Israel for its apostasy and disobedience. Israel had fallen into idolatry. Yet we find God honoring His covenant with His people.
God calls Gideon a mighty man of valor, but unfortunately all Gideon sees is the natural circumstances that surround Him. God is made a proclamation of power and victory, but all Gideon can see are the physical circumstances that surrounded him. One of the reasons that there was very little if any spiritual insight is because idolatry in whatever form it manifests itself in the life of a believer creates spiritual blindness. You can say that anything you place before God, anything that takes priority over your relationship and responsibility to God becomes like spiritual cataracts in that you become blinded to the spiritual truths that lie before you.
Now there are many of you that will contend that there is no idolatry within the ranks of the Christian faith today. I would beg to differ. Anything that is placed before God, not simply the worship of other God's, but the consideration given to our selfish desires. It is my position on what the Bible teaches is that all that we have placed in priority over God has blinded us and stifled our growth and hindered our ministry. One of the quickest test and dependable test to see where you lie in this situation is to analyze the fruit you bear. Take an objective look at your actions and the fruit that is born from these actions. Now I am not speaking of your self-inflated egotistical evaluation. I am speaking of measuring yourself by the standards of the infallible Word of God. It is simple, how much time are spending doing the will of God in comparison to how much time is spent is serving your desires. Now these selfish desires that I speak of do not have to be inherently evil; meaning that standing alone they may even be considered necessary and good, but when placed before our service to the kingdom, they become evil in that they are detracting from the plan of God.
Any time this takes place, we loose power, we become ineffective in our walk and most of all, our fellowship with God is negatively impacted. Gideon's own father was influential within his tribe and he had a statue of Baal on his land and was obviously a Baal worshiper. That impacted the home in a way that is lucidly visible in Gideon's response to the declaration that he was a mighty man of valor. Yet, God was saying to Gideon, in spite of your waywardness, if you return to me, out of your cowardice inherency will rise up a mighty man of valor. I will take you from a place of weakness and uncertainty to historical heights. I will make your name great among believers for centuries to come.
God was saying to Gideon that I did not design you for mediocrity and worthless living. I designed you for greatness and specific purpose. I see you in My design for you, not in the shell of a man you are now. God is saying the same thing to you right now. Rise up and be the mighty man of valor you were created to be. Stand up in your greatness. It is timeout for sight living; only trusting and believing in what you see. Its time to step into your destiny. Each of us has a destiny, an end that was declared by God before time itself began. There will be many obstacles in the way of you fulfilling your destiny, but the wonderful thing about destiny is that the more someone tries to hinder or stop your destiny, they only insure that it happens. Did you hear that? Every mountainous struggle, every heartache, every disappointment is actually pressing you toward your destiny. Those that come along and attempt to knock you off stride as you move towards your destiny only insure that you reach it. They, themselves, have unwittingly become a part of your destiny.
So I encourage you to walk in your purpose, fulfill your destiny and embrace the greatness. It is time to actualize your potential.

The Call for Introspection and Change
5Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [[a]not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you--unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?
6But I hope you will recognize and know that we are not disapproved on trial and rejected. 2 Cor. 13:5, 6 AMP)
Paul is not questioning whether the Corinthians are true believers in Christ, by the time this epistle was written, Paul knew the Corinthians quite well. Paul’s admonishment here is to search within to insure that the life we are living is reflective of our professed faith. Anytime there is a test or examination, there is a master sheet by which the test will be graded. This master sheet will be the standard of perfection by which all others will be measured. In the walk of Christianity, the only true standard is God’s infallible Word. We must place our lives juxtaposed to the principles and values prescribed by Biblical mandate to measure our progress toward spiritual maturity and divine destiny.
When you use the Word of God as the barometer through which the dynamics of your life are measured and evaluated, you gain a transpicuous and apprehensible knowledge of your NET-WORTH. I use the term net-worth as opposed to self-worth because self-worth, especially in today’s social climate, can too easily be distorted. Too many times, people assess their worth by their things, jobs and accomplishments. They are identified through external traits. Whereas a person’s net-worth is who they are once all of the external assets are stripped away. When the bank accounts, prestigious appointments, clothes, jewelry, etc. have been set aside; who are you? This is the true you. When there are no things, no titles, no celebrated accomplishments, who are you? Your net-worth is the part of your being that cannot be changed by the barometric pressures of this life. Your net-worth is the determinate factor in assessing your capacity for Christ like character.
Our net-worth is a major focus in our development as Christian men because it is the course of our significance as it pertains to our relationship with Christ. Knowing our worth establishes a sense of responsibility and direction. It allows us to be stable in unstable circumstances. Our net-worth is the starting point for ur spiritual growth. Our net-worth is where the absolute standard of God’s W is applied. There is a need for change in every man; a spiritual, emotional, and intellectual metamorphosis in which we become more and more like Christ (Rom 8:29; Cor. 3:18)

There Is Something In The Atmosphere
In his last speech, “I’ve been To The Mountain Top”, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spoke of the possibility of having a general and panoramic view of history and God giving him the opportunity to choose which era he wanted to LIVE in. This put me in a place of deep contemplation.
I began to ponder the possibility. What if God gave me a panoramic view of history and then gave me the choice of living in any era I chose. I would travel back to the moment of creation and witness one of the most awesome events to ever take place. Though it would be breathtaking and invigorating, I wouldn’t stop there.
I would move on past the biblical flood on down to Egypt and witness Moses lead his people out of the land of bondage. Although it would be both, emancipating and liberating, I wouldn’t stop there.
I would move on down to the valley of Elah and witness a young kid by the name of David triumph over a giant by the name of Goliath. As empowering as it would be I wouldn’t stop there.
I would move on to mount Olympus at the Parthenon and sit down with the likes of Sacrates, Plato, and Aristophanes as they contemplated the mysteries of life, and though it would be intellectually stimulating, I wouldn’t stop the there.
I would move on down to the hay day of the Roman Empire and I would witness a man named Jesus lay down His life so that all others may live. Although it would be overwhelmingly reassuring, I wouldn’t stop there.
I would move on down through the reformation era and visit with Calvin and Luther as they grapple with force of grace and I would move down even further and witness John Wesley ignite the revival of the ages. Now as exuberating and refreshing as that would be I couldn’t stop there. No, I would end up back here in the 21 Century.
In a place, that by all counts is totally screwed up. A place where the man of God has, in so many ways, lost his way; A place where two parent households have become an anomaly; A place where hopelessness is the order of the day, and despair dominates the atmosphere. I would come back to this very moment in time. This place where there seems to be no consistent positive male role models to guide our young men into manhood. A place where the male rite of passage all too often transverses the social infrastructure of gang life. This very place where young women are unaware of their worth and are easily convinced to compromise their purity for the bitter nuggets of male acceptance.
Why would I choose this time and place when it is so messed up? This is where I meet my purpose and destiny head on. I was designed and created for such a time as this. God has sent me with a Word of healing and anticipation.
In the book of Joel, God speaks through the prophet and tells the nation of Israel that in response to their repentance and obedience to his will, there will be a refreshing and restoring of the land. He begins with the promises of material and physical blessings, which in themselves are enough to put the most expansive imagination into excessive overload. However, in verse 28, the focus shifts from the physical to the spiritual:
“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.” (Joel 2:28-29 NKJV)
Joel foretold of an awesome outpouring of the Holy Spirit. He spoke of an inexpressible transformation. He spoke of a power beyond their on physical means. He was laying the foundation of hope to a people that had become desperate in their circumstances. He was saying that no matter how far you have fallen, you have not fallen beyond the reach of God. He was saying that in your weakness, in your wretchedness, in your hopelessness, there is a God that can touch your emptiness in a manner that you never thought possible, and when he touches you your life will never be the same.
I stopped by to tell you that I sense a change in barometric pressure in the spiritual atmosphere that encapsulates us. There is something in the atmosphere. I can sense it in the yearning of young women to have something more than just a flesh mate. There is something in the atmosphere. I can sense it in the disquietude of the younger generation, as they search for a deeper and more lucid understanding of the enigmatic conundrums that plagued the generations before them. There is something in the atmosphere. I can sense it in the yearnings of young fathers to be better in their paternal responsibilities than their fathers before them. Yes, there is something in the atmosphere.
The old social norms and standards are no longer acceptable. There is a paradigmatic shift on the horizon. We are approaching the dawning of a great revival; we are standing at the threshold of a spiritual out pouring that will be greater than any in times past. Lives are about to be changed in ways that are inexpressible. There is something in the atmosphere.
To the single mother, your deliverance is coming. There is something in the atmosphere.
To the orphaned child, there is love for you. There is something in the atmosphere.
To the couple struggling with financial difficulties, it’s okay. There is an oasis of financial prosperity and breakthrough on the horizon for you. There is something in the atmosphere.
To those behind prison walls’, feeling as though no one cares. God is about to reach into your circumstances and reshape your destiny. There is something in the atmosphere.
There is a new sort of man rising up with purpose and focus. He is aware of his destiny and has set his gait toward that destiny with a certainty that cannot be denied. His heart is fixed and his mind is made up. He is not willing to meander through the maze of mediocrity, neither is he content to wallow in the pond of pity. He has purposed in his heart that he will move past the dwarfed goals of the generations before him. He will reach beyond the comfort of just good enough and grab hold of it is as good as it gets.
It cannot be denied; the very core of the secular infrastructure that has for so long led us astray has been shaken off its axis. Something extraordinary is taking place. The standards of acceptability are being raised to new heights. There is a rumbling of sorts, a seismic disturbance that is garnering the attention of the masses. There is something in the atmosphere.
In 1 Corinthians Ch.1 Paul gives us some insight as to how this revival will be ignited.
“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise and God has chosen the weak thing of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen and the things which are not to bring to nothing the things that are.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-28 NKJV)
God is about to take those men that have been written off by society, those that have been labeled unfruitful. The very ones that have been classified as spiritually and socially impotent are the ones that God is going call out to ignite the revival of the ages. You can see in the prisons where the power of the Holy Spirit is beginning to resonate throughout the penal system as men are deciding that they are no longer willing to be prisoners both physically, and spiritually. They have determined with an inexorable passion to seek God and walk in their destinies. These men will be the empirical and pragmatic evidence that the power of God is unbridled and boundless. There is something in the atmosphere.
Proverbs 29:18 tells us that “without a vision the people perish”. There has to be revelation for the people to prosper in every aspect of their lives. That revelation begins with the infallible Word of God. There has been a resurgence of Word hungry warriors that thirst for a knowledge of God and His power that can only be obtained through serious Bible Study. They are no longer placated by superficial feel good sermons. They are searching for the truth that Christ promised would be theirs through the Holy Spirit. There is something in the atmosphere.
There are visions of progression and prosperity. There are prophetic words being spoken. There are dreamers that see a brighter tomorrow. There are those that refuse to walk in the shadows of past failures. There is something in the atmosphere. I can sense the turning of the tide. God is about to pour out is spirit as never before as he honors those that are loyal to him (2 Chronicles 16:9). There is something in the atmosphere.
There is a projective aura of rejuvenation and restoration. There is something in the atmosphere.
There is a resurgence of the committed male, though it only be a remnant at the moment. It will ignite a rising of the fallen. There is something in the atmosphere.
We are beginning to see a new breed of woman. One who appreciates the attributes of a good Godly man. There is something in the atmosphere.
There has risen among us a renewed passion for prayer and fellowship with God. There is a rising up of believers who are prepared to claim that which has been promised. There is a new brand of leader, one that will not waver in his walk. He is centered in Christ. There is something in the atmosphere.
There is a fresh anointing falling upon the committed. I invite you to lay claim to a double portion of this awesome power that is falling in abundance.
I know that there are some that are wearied by the storms of life, but there is a blessing in the atmosphere for you. I know that there are some who have been broken by the vicissitudes of life, but there is a blessing of healing and restoration in the atmosphere. There is someone that is struggling with bouts of depression, but there is joy and peace in the atmosphere. There is someone dealing with the heartache of abandonment, but there is a spirit of completion and fulfillment in the atmosphere. There are some who have struggled with indecision and uncertainty, but there is vision and purpose in the atmosphere.
I took a little time just to let you know that there is something in the atmosphere.
For the alcoholic and drug addict, there is something in the atmosphere.
For downcast and desolate, there is something in the atmosphere.
For the fatherless child, there is something in the atmosphere.
Claim your blessing, walk in the power and live in your destiny.
May God keep and bless you as you walk this ethereal journey.

He was laying the foundation of hope to a people that had become desperate in their circumstances. He was saying that no matter how far you have fallen, you have not fallen beyond the reach of God. He was saying that in your weakness, in your wretchedness, in your hopelessness, there is a God that can touch your emptiness in a manner that you never thought possible, and when he touches you your life will never be the same.
I stopped by to tell you that I sense a change in barometric pressure in the spiritual atmosphere that encapsulates us. There is something in the atmosphere. I can sense it in the yearning of young women to have something more than just a flesh mate. There is something in the atmosphere. I can sense it in the disquietude of the younger generation, as they search for a deeper and more lucid understanding of the enigmatic conundrums that plagued the generations before them. There is something in the atmosphere. I can sense it in the yearnings of young fathers to be better in their paternal responsibilities than their fathers before them. Yes, there is something in the atmosphere.
The old social norms and standards are no longer acceptable. There is a paradigmatic shift on the horizon. We are approaching the dawning of a great revival; we are standing at the threshold of a spiritual out pouring that will be greater than any in times past. Lives are about to be changed in ways that are inexpressible. There is something in the atmosphere.
To the single mother, your deliverance is coming. There is something in the atmosphere.
To the orphaned child, there is love for you. There is something in the atmosphere.
To the couple struggling with financial difficulties, it’s okay. There is an oasis of financial prosperity and breakthrough on the horizon for you. There is something in the atmosphere.
To those behind prison walls’, feeling as though no one cares. God is about to reach into your circumstances and reshape your destiny. There is something in the atmosphere.
There is a new sort of man rising up with purpose and focus. He is aware of his destiny and has set his gait toward that destiny with a certainty that cannot be denied. His heart is fixed and his mind is made up. He is not willing to meander through the maze of mediocrity, neither is he content to wallow in the pond of pity. He has purposed in his heart that he will move past the dwarfed goals of the generations before him. He will reach beyond the comfort of just good enough and grab hold of it is as good as it gets.
It cannot be denied; the very core of the secular infrastructure that has for so long led us astray has been shaken off its axis. Something extraordinary is taking place. The standards of acceptability are being raised to new heights. There is a rumbling of sorts, a seismic disturbance that is garnering the attention of the masses. There is something in the atmosphere.
In 1 Corinthians Ch.1 Paul gives us some insight as to how this revival will be ignited.
“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise and God has chosen the weak thing of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen and the things which are not to bring to nothing the things that are.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-28 NKJV)
God is about to take those men that have been written off by society, those that have been labeled unfruitful. The very ones that have been classified as spiritually and socially impotent are the ones that God is going call out to ignite the revival of the ages. You can see in the prisons where the power of the Holy Spirit is beginning to resonate throughout the penal system as men are deciding that they are no longer willing to be prisoners both physically, and spiritually. They have determined with an inexorable passion to seek God and walk in their destinies. These men will be the empirical and pragmatic evidence that the power of God is unbridled and boundless. There is something in the atmosphere.
Proverbs 29:18 tells us that “without a vision the people perish”. There has to be revelation for the people to prosper in every aspect of their lives. That revelation begins with the infallible Word of God. There has been a resurgence of Word hungry warriors that thirst for a knowledge of God and His power that can only be obtained through serious Bible Study. They are no longer placated by superficial feel good sermons. They are searching for the truth that Christ promised would be theirs through the Holy Spirit. There is something in the atmosphere.
There are visions of progression and prosperity. There are prophetic words being spoken. There are dreamers that see a brighter tomorrow. There are those that refuse to walk in the shadows of past failures. There is something in the atmosphere. I can sense the turning of the tide. God is about to pour out is spirit as never before as he honors those that are loyal to him (2 Chronicles 16:9). There is something in the atmosphere.
There is a projective aura of rejuvenation and restoration. There is something in the atmosphere.
There is a resurgence of the committed male, though it only be a remnant at the moment. It will ignite a rising of the fallen. There is something in the atmosphere.
We are beginning to see a new breed of woman. One who appreciates the attributes of a good Godly man. There is something in the atmosphere.
There has risen among us a renewed passion for prayer and fellowship with God. There is a rising up of believers who are prepared to claim that which has been promised. There is a new brand of leader, one that will not waver in his walk. He is centered in Christ. There is something in the atmosphere.
There is a fresh anointing falling upon the committed. I invite you to lay claim to a double portion of this awesome power that is falling in abundance.
I know that there are some that are wearied by the storms of life, but there is a blessing in the atmosphere for you. I know that there are some who have been broken by the vicissitudes of life, but there is a blessing of healing and restoration in the atmosphere. There is someone that is struggling with bouts of depression, but there is joy and peace in the atmosphere. There is someone dealing with the heartache of abandonment, but there is a spirit of completion and fulfillment in the atmosphere. There are some who have struggled with indecision and uncertainty, but there is vision and purpose in the atmosphere.
I took a little time just to let you know that there is something in the atmosphere.
For the alcoholic and drug addict, there is something in the atmosphere.
For downcast and desolate, there is something in the atmosphere.
For the fatherless child, there is something in the atmosphere.
Claim your blessing, walk in the power and live in your destiny.
May God keep and bless you as you walk this ethereal journey.
